The DOGMA Story
Dogs are a direct reflection of their environment and their parents. They ask nothing of us, yet give us so much in return. Dogs teach us that unconditional love is real! -Jun Takama
Born in Japan and raised between Tokyo and Paris, I was shaped by Japan’s refined aesthetics, precision, and respect for craft, alongside the French tradition of exceptional service and hospitality. These influences came together to form the philosophy behind DOGMA.
DOGMA is an extension of your home.
As a lifelong dog lover and owner, I set out to elevate dog daycare, grooming, and boarding in New York City to a higher standard of care, transparency, and professionalism. DOGMA was created because I could not find a NYC dog daycare that met the level of love, safety, and quality I wanted for my own dogs, Kaharu and Koyuki.
Drawing on my background as a former restaurateur and hairstylist, I believed New York’s discerning dog parents deserved a premium dog care facility that combines thoughtful design, skilled staff, and truly personalized service.
Clients consistently share positive feedback, whether they are transitioning from another daycare or visiting DOGMA for the first time. We operate with full transparency, offering direct communication, photo updates, and live video access. Every dog is carefully evaluated to ensure a safe, structured, and enriching environment.
Our experienced team is deeply caring, and our management is committed to continuous improvement. Dogs at DOGMA enjoy supervised social play, enrichment activities, agility classes, treadmill workouts, power walks, and more, all tailored to their individual needs.
